Leadership Giving

A growing number of United Way donors are contributing at a Leadership level (annual gifts over $1,000). They recognize the significant difference their investment makes in the community. Our Leadership Giving Program raised over $1 Million in 2005!
Message from Joan Kelley

Benefactor
I am thrilled to be able to help United Way of York Region help others!
This has given me and my husband a way to reach out to people in our own backyard that we would never have been exposed to otherwise. It makes me feel really great to help people just like me.
I have had the opportunity to tour some of the agencies that receive funding from United Way of York Region and I can honestly say I have been deeply touched by the way that United Way of York Region treats everyone with kindness, respect and dignity no matter what their current situation in their life. It is wonderful to see the hope and help and support given by United Way.
I have supported United Way of York Region for several years now. During that time I have always found the organization to be thorough and conscientious fundraisers, responsible in helping their agencies and passionate about caring for our community, for people and families.

Group of Companies
I am big on United Way of York Region.
I am a long serving member of the Campaign Cabinet and organize a team of dedicated fundraising volunteers. My company organizes an extremely successful employee campaign and our employees participate in United Way Days of Caring twice a year. I am proud to be a member of the Leadership Giving Program as a “Builder”.
Having said that, you may find it ironic that it is not United Way itself that I am passionate about.
I have visited many of the agencies that my United Way donation supports. I have seen tears. I have seen fear. I have seen hope. And perhaps most importantly, I have seen determination in the eyes of the people who participate in United Way funded programs. A determination to make life better for themselves and their families. That is what I am passionate about.
Of course, my business sense values the importance of United Way’s vigilance in assessing where need is the greatest. And I applaud the vigorous review that ensures the programs are really helping people improve their lives.
Supporting our community is the right thing to do. Donating to United Way of York Region is the right way to do it.

Tax benefits make it easier to be generous to your community. Federal and provincial tax credits can cut the cost of your donation by nearly half. Gifts of Securities are even more beneficial from a taxation perspective.
